The time has come to officially say goodbye to Suden aika, after many many years together.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Suden aika started as Tellu Turkka\u2019s solo project in 1996. Tellu and Liisa started the quartet again in 2003. In these more than 20 years we have had the privilege of making our music, that has its roots deep in the Finnish folklore, still being contemporary.\u00a07 studio albums and 1 live album, concerts, tours, workshops all over Europe, but most importantly joy, courage, love and sisterhood.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

So many things to say, so many people to thank.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Our darling sisters Tellu, Nora, Anita, Mira and Sanna – thank you for singing with us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Timo Alakotila, Vesa Norilo, Antti Vainio and all of you brilliant professionals- without you our records would never have been made.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Dear friend Jens-Peter M\u00fcller from Nordpool Music, Bernhard Frei in Switzerland and Peter Cronemeyer from Laika-Records: thank you for believing in us and making all the tours possible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The unique sound and tonality of Suden aika (The Time of the Wolf) is created by the combination of four strong female voices.<\/p>\n

Suden aika is the bearer of tradition: the age-old Finnish oral poetry reciting meets the music of today. Suden aika composes and arranges their music to lyrics that are based on the ancient Finnish lyrical folk poetry and draws its roots from the Nordic and Finno-Ugric folk music tradition. The Finnish poetical language is rich, colorful and beautiful; each listener is entitled to their own interpretation.<\/p>\n

Suden aika is primarily a vocal group but the band also uses various musical instruments, such as different types of Finnish Kantele, Swedish Mora-harp, long wooden flutes and percussion.<\/p>\n

The latest album Sisaret (Sisters) was released in 2018 by German label Laika Records. The newest video Niin on pitk\u00e4t miun pihani (So wide is my yard as the clouds in the sky) was released the same year.<\/p>\n
